Porcupine Meatballs

2 lbs ground beef
½ cup rice, uncooked
1 egg
1 tsp. salt
¼ tsp pepper
2 T bread crumbs
12 oz. bottle of chili sauce
1 cup water
6 oz. grape jelly or 1 can whole cranberries
1 T lemon juice

Combine beef, rice, egg, salt, pepper and bread crumbs. Shape into walnut-size balls. Heat chili sauce, water, jelly or cranberries in large pan or Dutch oven. Add the meat balls, cover and simmer for 30 minutes. Uncover and cook for 15 minutes. If necessary, add a little more water. Serves 8-10
