Lottie’s Creamed Chicken with Dumplings

3 cups diced, cooked chicken
1 tsp. onion powder
garlic powder
1 T soy sauce
3 T schmaltz
3 T flour
1 cup chicken soup

Combine chicken, onion powder, a dash of garlic powder, and soy sauce. Heat schmaltz in frying pan and stir in flour until browned. Add soup, stirring until thick. Cook 3-5 minutes over low heat. Add chicken mixture and cover. Cook for 5-10 minutes. Serve with dumplings. Serves 4-6

Dumplings

1 ½ cup flour
2 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp salt
3 T shortening
4T water

Combine dry ingredients and cut in shortening with a fork Add water and mix with the fork to form a light dough. Drop from a tablespoon into pot of simmering chicken soup. Cover and cook for 15 minutes.
